S3NSUS - Secret Knowledge of the Stars

"He had secret knowledge of the stars" was inscribed on the tomb of John Dunstable when he died on Christmas Eve 1453. His music was famed t...houghout Europe and 'an english countenance' became a real accolade for the composers who tried to emulate his success.

This programme explores the work of Dunstable and his contemporary at the Burgunian court Guillaume Dufay and then proceeds to celebrate Dunstable's successors in what became the peculiarly beautiful and distinctive style of english music.

Also featuring Byrd, Taverner, Gibbons, Baldwyn, Locke and others.

Morden College Chapel, Blackheath, London, 11.15
